We are looking for some new volunteers at the moment to help us to answer phones and to research, input data and call clients back. Could this be you?
We couldn’t exist without our volunteers, all of whom undergo our structured and supportive training programme to make sure that we are providing advice of the highest quality.
If you’d like to volunteer at Citizens Advice we would love to hear from you. We ask for a commitment of at least four hours each week, ideally for a minimum of 12 months.
Email volunteering@northlancashirecab.org.uk with your name, address, email and your area of interest for more information, or fill out our Volunteer Application Form.
We ask for a minimum commitment of 12 months and 4-8 hours per week and will provide full training. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills and information and to meet some new people too. We are a friendly bunch and we love welcoming new volunteers!
Details about the roles available are below.
Initial assessors - advice and referrals for more in-depth advice where appropriate. The initial assessor will answer queries where possible but may triage clients who have more complex advice needs.
Training can be done remotely or can be done in a (remote) group setting with our in house trainer, but will depend upon your availability and will take between 6 weeks and three months. Full support is always available from our desk staff so you will never be on your own.
Telephone adviser roles - full advice given remotely either by telephone or zoom to pre-booked appointments. This role requires experience (gained as an initial assessor) and full completion of the Citizens Advice training route, including basic and individual subject matter modules. This takes between 3 and 6 months, following initial training. This is remote learning with regular trainer guidance and review.
Zoom adviser - we are moving with the times and we can now give face-to-face advice via Zoom. This will require familiarity with Zoom and a keen ability to search for information required beforehand and sometimes during the session. These will be by pre-booked appointment initially, and will require you to be a fully trained adviser.
Casework support volunteers - this is a supplementary role to advice. You will be supporting debt caseworkers to input data, contact clients to arrange appointments, follow up paperwork required, enter details onto our case recording system.
If you are interested in being a volunteer at Citizens Advice North Lancashire please send us an email to volunteering@northlancashirecab.org.uk with your name and contact details, and the role that you might be interested in, and our team will take it from there! We look forward to hearing from you.
